Patience Reading, MD

Patience Reading, MD, a board certified neurologist, earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, where she served as class president, and was the recipient of prestigious awards such as the most outstanding neurology student, Rolland C. Reynolds Pathology Award, Iatrose Award (student physician in high regard), and Cibageneva Award for Outstanding Community Service. At the University of Michigan Department of Internal Medicine, she was named Intern of the Month, and later, in that school’s Department of Neurology, she served as Chief Resident.  Following completion of the residency program, Dr. Reading pursued training through a University of Michigan Fellowship in Electrophysiology, including EEG, EMG, and NCS, with special clinical emphasis in neuromuscular disease.


Dr. Reading actively participates in community education programs, providing lectures to Austin area charity organizations, and speaking to the public via television news appearances. Her research works on neuropathy and other neurological topics have been published in medical journals. Dr. Reading currently has a private practice in Austin, where she treats outpatient and inpatient neurology patients. She received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Microbiology from the University of Texas at Austin.
